LAS VEGAS AREA AIRPORTS

There are 7 public airports and 2 government installations in the Las Vegas area ​​

Public Airfields

 

  • Harry Reid International - Located in Paradise, Nevada, less than one mile from the south end of the ‘Strip’.​

  • Jean Airport - public use government airport one mile south of Jean, Nevada. 

  • Boulder City Airport - southwest of Boulder City. The third busiest airport due to its proximity to Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon.  

  • Echo Bay Airport - public use airport located in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, 14 miles south of Overton.

  • Calvada Meadows Airport - a private airport located in Pahrump, Nevada.  

  • Henderson Executive Airport - a public use government airport located 13 miles south of Las Vegas. 

  • North Las Vegas Airport - a public use government airport in North Las Vegas, 3 miles northwest of downtown 

Government Airfields

  • Nellis Air Force Base - known by the USAF as the "Home of the Fighter Pilot" for its advanced combat training. Home to the 'Thunderbirds'.

  • Homey Airport (KXTA) - declassified by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and formally recognized in June 2013 is located on the southern shore of Groom Lake - a remote detachment administered by Edwards Air Force Base.

Harry Reid International (LAS)

A study of the best 'mega' airports (serving more than 33 million passengers annually) listed the top three in 2023 as: 
  1. Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport
  2. Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport
  3. Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas

Unless you are flying privately, you will be arriving at Harry Reid International. Following is information to know upon arrival:

 

TERMINAL 1 

Advanced Air, Allegiant, American Airlines, Avelo, Delta, Northern Pacific, Southwest, Spirit 

A, B, C, and D Gates
Terminal 1 primarily handles domestic flights.  The A, B, C and D gates total 96 gates.
The D gate concourse can be accessed from Terminal 1 via an automated tram. 

TERMINAL 3 

Alaska Airlines, Breeze, Frontier, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue, Sun Country, United

Also: AeroMexico, Air Canada, Avianca, British Airways, Canada Jetlines, Condor, Copa, Edelweiss,

Eurowings, Flair, KLM Royal Dutch, Korean Air, Lynx, Virgin Atlantic, Viva Aerobus, Volaris, WestJet
          D and E Gates
          Terminal 3 services international and some domestic flights. It has 14-gates.

The D gate concourse can be accessed from Terminal 3 via an automated tram.

BAG CHECK AND SECURITY
You must check your bags at the terminal of your airline. 
If you are not checking bags, you can go through security at either T1 or T3. 
If you go through security at T3, follow signs to the D Gates and take the Red Line tram.

Exit the Red line and follow signs to the Blue Line & Gates A, B, & C. 

Note that there is no longer a Terminal 2.  When the new 14-gate Terminal 3 opened in 2012, it was closed and subsequently demolished in 2016. There remain two passenger terminals (1 and 3) and four runways. Passengers at Harry Reid International Airport reached a record high of 57.6 million (arrivals & departures) in 2023.  Maximum capacity of 65 million is anticipated by 2030. Plans for construction of a $12 billion supplemental airport about 25 miles south of Las Vegas (just north of Primm) is expected to begin by 2029 with completion by 2037.

TAXI PICKUP LOCATIONS

Terminal 1
Taxis can be found outside exit doors numbered 1-4 on the east side of baggage claim. Staff is on hand to assist with queue management and provide help.

Terminal 3
On Level Zero, you can find taxis located outside near exit door numbered 52 on the west side of the building.

RIDESHARE LOCATIONS

Terminal 1

Ride-share pickup location is situated on Level 2 of the T1 Parking Garage.From Baggage Claim, take the elevator near Door 2 up to Level 2, cross the pedestrian bridge to the parking garage, and the pickup area is to the right​​.

Terminal 3

Ride-share pickup is on the valet level of the T3 parking garage​​

 

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION (RTC Bus)

To Downtown Las Vegas, Caesars Palace, Cromwell, Bellagio, Horseshoe, Paris Las Vegas, walk to Ground Level Zero and take the CX Centennial Express Bus to the Flamingo Ave / Las Vegas Blvd. stop for $2 per person for a single ride. Route 108, Route 109 also stop at the Ground Level Zero at Terminal 1. CX also services Terminal 3.

Airport Pick Up From a Local Resident

Notify the persons picking you up as soon as you land. If you didn’t check any bags, you’ll have at least 20 minutes to get to the pickup area. If you checked bags, it’ll take 10 to 20 minutes more, depending on airline.

Your ride will be waiting in the cell phone lot. (waiting at passenger pickup is not allowed) until you notify them you're at the pickup area. When they arrive they will notify you the pillar number they’re at.
